3 Ways To Use CBD For Hangovers

There’s nothing worse than waking up to a morning of misery after a night of drunken fun.

You’ve tried everything from drinking lots of fluids to taking pain relievers. Yet, no matter your efforts, you’re still trudging into the afternoon with an awful hangover. In this case, CBD might just be the answer for you. Many have found the cannabinoid to help with symptoms such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Trembling

Within this blog, we review everything you need to know about curing morning hangover with CBD.

1Why We Feel Hangovers

There are many different factors to what causes a hangover. But in essence, your body’s reaction is a form of withdraw from alcohol¹.

One of the biggest symptoms people feel, dehydration, is a prime example. In the words of Brandon Browne, MD, “Alcohol is a diuretic, which means that it helps the body get rid of fluids. When you have a sever hangover, you’re often severely dehydrated, and the body can’t get rid of the byproducts of metabolizing alcohol (metabolites). And those metabolites are irritating.”²

In other words, drinking too much leaves your body in a state where there aren’t enough fluids to pass out the toxins of alcohol. This is why many will tell you drink a glass of water between drinks.

Without these proper fluids, your body needs a new way of battling the toxins. And one solution to this is CBD.

2How CBD Interacts With Alcohol

Though CBD doesn’t hydrate you, it works in your body in a number of ways that can help battling hangovers.

In a 1998 study³, it was researched whether or not CBD would have effects on alcohol toxicity in lab rats. Some of these rats died out of a loss of brains cells and seizures. However, the rats that were given CBD while drunk lost 50% less brain cells than those who hadn’t.

The results of this test prove CBD can reduce the toxicity in alcohol… if taken while drinking. With less of alcohol’s toxins running through the body, there’s a much less likely chance of hangover occurring.

3Taking CBD During A Hangover

Since CBD is an antioxidant, it will help your body push through a hangover.

CBD will also battle specific symptoms, such as headaches. In one study, it found that cannabinoids helped regulate serotonin in the central nervous system⁴. In turn, easing migraines felt by patients.

In another study, CBD was discovered to properly regulate blood sugar levels⁵. Since alcohol lowers blood sugar concentration, cannabidiols can alter symptoms such as fatigue or weakness.

It’s important to keep your body hydrated while experiencing a hangover. By taking CBD and drinking plenty of water, you’re doing many wonders for your body.

Final Thoughts and Your Questions

CBD is a great way to reduce symptoms of an alcohol-induced hangover. However, it’s probably not the almighty answer drinkers have been looking for.

Still, considering CBD’s antioxidant characteristics, taking it while having a couple of drinks will certainly benefit your body in the long run.

If you have any further questions relating to how CBD can effect your hangover, we invite you to ask them in the comments below.

5 Facts About Treating Anxiety With CBD

Pretty much everyone has met or knows someone who has anxiety and or high levels of stress, which only increases as our demands increase (i.e. boundaries – this is a topic for another post!). Yet, the solutions out there still seem pretty archaic. There is therapy and medication, but what about natural remedies? Even though research is in its early stages to formally establish cannabis oil or hemp oil as a treatment, people who have anxiety, depression and high stress levels claim that CBD has had considerable effects on the decrease of their symptoms with less intense side effects!

1What Is Anxiety?

A 2017 report by the World Health Organization suggests almost 264 million people are living with anxiety worldwide. This isn’t just a little “thing” to be brushed under the carpet. This is serious, and the number is constantly increasing.

If you’re not familiar with anxiety – in a nutshell, it’s a condition characterized by restlessness and excessive worry. This leads to difficulty making decisions, tolerating criticism, having high stress conversations and difficulty speaking in public to just name a few. Anxiety comes in many shapes and sizes from social anxiety to PTSD and panic disorders. Regardless of which is more prominent, CBD can help.

2CBD To Treat Anxiety

Per the Depression Alliance a “2010 paper published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology suggests, both human and animal studies indicate that cannabidiol, one of the primary compounds found in cannabis and marijuana, can serve as a viable treatment for anxiety.” CBD has also been used as an effective treatment for a range of conditions. From lowering blood pressure and an anti-inflammatory to helping multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease to chronic pain and depression, CBD can help.

3CBD To Build Memory

If that wasn’t enough a study from 2013 found that repeated administration of CBD could trigger regeneration of neurons in the hippocampus – which is the part of the brain responsible for memory and cognition. Ironically, the human body has a system that is designed explicitly for processing cannabinoids!

4The Endocannabinoid System And Anxiety

This system you may already know of, the endocannabinoid system, which plays a big role in homeostasis and allows the body to maintain a healthy balance. For those who want the more “science-y” example… According to Depression Alliance, “cannabidiol works just like SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) – a category of psychiatric drugs specifically designed for anxiety and depression. By bringing your serotonin to normal levels, CBD-based supplements can significantly reduce the symptoms of anxiety.”

5Dosage

There isn’t a set prescribed dose of CBD to take to treat anxiety. However, what’s so spectacular about CBD is it’s safe and non-psychoactive, so you don’t have to worry about taking too much. The worst that could happen is feeling a bit nauseous.

In the end, CBD can be helpful and effective as a treatment for anxiety. If you’re concerned at all, consult a health physician and listen to your body.

3 Ways CBD Is The Newest And Best In Anti-Aging Skincare

Research has shown that the body has cannabinoid receptors densely populated in the brain. The bodies largest organ, the skin, also has these same receptors too. That means it is possible for CBD to potentially be a therapeutic answer to a wide range of skin conditions. Combined with the increasing awareness of the importance of the endocannabinoid system for the overall human health, scientists are trying to discover the mechanisms for how CBD can potentially relieve more skin conditions. We predict that CBD might revolutionize the skincare and beauty industry as well as the entire healthcare sector.

1CBD For Inflammation And Itching

Several studies show the positive impacts of topical cannabinoids on skin inflammation. In 2006, a study was conducted with an aim of evaluating the effects of CBD on itchy skin (known as puritis in medical terms). The study involved 22 patients that had pruritus that was resistant to other therapies. The results of this study showed that 14 out of 22 patients had positive effects from using CBD, with reports of 85.4% reduction of itching after using CBD and all patients showed good tolerance to the therapy with no adverse effects.

2CBD For Dermatitis

A follow up study was conducted in 2007. This study was aimed at establishing how cannabinoid receptors affect the allergic contact dermatitis. The conclusion of this study was that the endocannabinoid system plays a protective role in contact allergy on the skin.

3CBD For Eczema

Studies looking at the effect of topical cannabinoids on eczema showed that the anti-inflammatory compounds helped reduce the severity of eczema in animal models by increasing the rate of recovery of the epidermis. So, what does that mean? Topical cannabinoids can help reduce skin water loss by helping heal the skin faster in animal models with eczema. Studies also show that topical palmitoylethanolamide, a type of cannabinoid, can help with skin itching, eczema, and allergic itching.

From these studies, it’s apparent that CBD can help in the therapeutic aid of different skin conditions. We’ve created a skincare line that soothes dry skin with pure botanicals and CBD. The CBD Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream and CBD Anti-Aging Eye Serum are our soothing topical. Our CBD Complete Self-Care Bundle has the combo of all canna

4 Ways CBD Can Help With Sleep

When it comes to cannabidiol helping with sleep, there are two different groups concerned:

  • Those who want to use CBD as a sleep aid (particularly, people with insomnia).
  • Those who want to use CBD during the day and not feel sluggish.

Coincidentally, CBD is prominent as both a sleeping aid and keeping you relaxed but not fatigued throughout the day. We’re going to explore this phenomenon throughout this article.

1How Sleep Works

The process of sleep is so complex, we could write out volumes of encyclopedias explaining how it works. However, to make this brief, there are seven important areas of our brain that cause sleep¹:

  • Hypothalamus – considered the control center for nerve cells which affect sleep and arousal.
  • Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN) – thousands of cells responsible for your behavioral rhythm and light exposure.
  • Brain Stem – communicates directly with your hypothalamus in order to control wake and sleep cycles (uses cells to promote sleep or arousal).
  • Thalamus – the information storage for all your senses which remains quiet while you’re asleep.
  • Pineal Gland – is responsible for creating the hormone melatonin, which helps put you to sleep.
  • Basal Forebrain – another part of the brain that controls wake and sleep cycles.
  • Amygdala – responsible for processing emotions, usually very active when you’re asleep.

2How CBD Works

With the above information, you can get a sense of how our bodies “shut down” when we start to feel fatigued. In order for cannabidiol to initiate sleep, it’s effects would have to be similar to that of which naturally initiates sleep. Yet, they aren’t.

When you intake CBD, it immediately enters our endocannabinoid system (ECS) and interacts with various receptors.² The two most notable are:

  • CB1 Receptors – located in the brain and central nervous system (CNS) and are responsible for pain, activity, stress, and memory.
  • CB2 Receptors – located in peripheral organs throughout the body and are responsible for various activities in our immune system, muscular system, and cardiovascular system.

CBD has the ability to level out these receptors. For example, if too much of a CB1 receptor is activated, CBD can lower the activity. And vice versa.³

This is why people often feel relief from conditions such as insomnia, anxiety, and stress when they take CBD.

3Does CBD Make You Sleepy?

To put it simply, no! CBD will not make you feel tired if you take it throughout the day. However, if you’re experiencing symptoms from insomnia, stress, or anxiety, CBD does have the ability to alleviate.

The reason for this is it works on the brain and body differently than the process of sleep does.

4How CBD Can Help With Sleep Disorders

Scientists have struggled for many decades trying to come up with reasons as to WHY insomnia exists. In today’s world, they believe the cause is linked to the same thing as a number of illnesses; stress.⁴

The more the brain and body are strained, the more risk for health conditions (along with unhealthy lifestyles) appears. If you, like nearly everyone, have suffered from just occasional moments of stress, you’ve seen the negative health effects through headaches and mood swings.

However, if you experience long-term stress (consistent stress for a long period of time), then you’re much more vulnerable to a variety of illnesses, including, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Cancer
  • Depression
  • High blood pressure
  • Insomnia

Since CBD has the ability to deter stress, it may just be a prominent solution to solving various sleep disorders.

Final Notes

In general, CBD is good at helping you sleep without making you sleepy. Because of that, you can use it both for a sleep aid and during the day. If you’re interested in giving cannabidiol a try, feel free to check out our products page for more information.

3 Questions Parents Have About Children And CBD

With the popularity of cannabidiol (CBD) only rising, there are many parents out there who wonder if it’s safe to give to their children. The truth is, with a lack of secure scientific evidence, it’s hard to say. Throughout this article, we’re going to tell you the concerns some people have when it comes to giving CBD to children.

1Is CBD Oil For Children FDA Approved?

Currently, the Federal Drug and Food Administration (FDA) has only approved the medication Epidiolex for both adults and children with a rare form of epilepsy.¹ Though there’s a lot of push for more approvals, as of this time, nothing remains conclusive.

Still, with so little side effects, CBD seems safe as it is. And some parents may be led to believe that due to recent prohibition, the government is just working way to slow to conduct the necessary research for approved medication.

2Can I Give My Child CBD Oil To Help Them Sleep?

Some people use CBD to help them get to bed at night and, while this has prove beneficial, some medical professionals believe a child may develop a dependence on CBD. Still, this doesn’t necessarily indicate CBD isn’t safe for your child. So, how can you decide whether or not s/he should take it?

The first step is by analyzing why you want them to take it. If the reasoning is significant, you may want to consider. For example, if your child is suffering from cancer and you believe CBD may be able to stop the cancer cells from spreading, you have a legitimate reason to give some hope on CBD. However, if your child simply can’t get to sleep at night, you may want to seek out alternative, already approved forms of medication before testing CBD.

3Does CBD Oil Pose Risks To Children?

It’s important to understand that a child’s brain and body functions much differently than an adults. Though this is obvious information, it’s an important factor to consider when offering them any kind of medicine. Even if the CBD your child takes is safe, it can negatively interact with other medication they’re taking.

Since each product contains a different amount of CBD, it isn’t entirely sure how much cannabidiol the brain receives upon each dose – no matter what method you consume. Part of the reason for this is delivery systems will cause CBD to dissolve at different rates.²

Since the hemp and CBD industry isn’t currently regulated, many illegitimate businesses have entered the market. Each company on the market uses a different extraction method to receive the CBD from the cannabis plant. Unfortunately, not all extraction techniques are safe and sometimes leave toxic chemicals in the final product.³

Making Your Decision

One of the most difficult aspects of parenting is making vital decisions for another person’s life. When it comes to CBD the side effects and potential dangers can remain low if you understand the current market. However, with a lack of knowledge, you might be placing your child at risk.

2 Ways CBD Affects the Brain

With more and more people opening their eyes to the therapeutic effects of CBD, many are curious as to HOW it affects our brains. Cannabidiol (or CBD) doesn’t have the same psychoactive effects as tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC)¹. You won’t get “high” from intaking CBD even though it still comes from a cannabis plant. So, if you’re not getting high, what happens to your brain if it isn’t producing psychoactive effects? This article seeks to provide you will all the information you need on how CBD affects the brain.

1CBD Increases Your Brain’s Cannabinoids

The brain is so complicated, scientists still don’t understand every aspect of how it works. With that, it’s impossible to fully comprehend how CBD interacts with it. Still, there’s enough information to give us an idea.

Within our brains is something known as the endocannabinoid system (ENS)². This system naturally processes two distinct cannabinoid receptors throughout the entire nervous system. These receptors are CB1 and CB2.

When you intake CBD, it attaches itself to both CB1 and CB2 receptors and decreases their response time throughout the nervous system. So, if that’s the case, then how can CBD have such therapeutical effects?

The answer may lie in a variety of other chemicals that respond to cannabidiol.

For example, there’s a receptor known as 5-HT1A that has a strong effect on our serotonin neurotransmission. This chemical plays a major role in our mood and is often connected to certain mental illnesses, such as anxiety and depression³.

Since 5HT1A interacts with our body’s natural endocannabinoids and CBD has the ability to increase the body’s cannabinoids, it’s believed cannabidiol might hold the potential to naturally raise serotonin levels.

2CBD Is Not Limited To The Cannabinoids

CBD is miraculous in the sense that it can go beyond our endocannabinoid system.

For example, research has found evidence that CBD distorts opioid receptors. In turn, many scientists are seeking out whether or not it can be used to treat opioid addictions⁴. This concept was furthered when it was found that CBD also interacts with dopamine, the chemical that makes us feel as though we’ve achieved a reward.

In another example, CBD has the ability to bind with TRPV1 receptors. These are vital to regulating our body temperature, inflammation, and tolerance to pain. It’s due to this interaction that CBD has been used as a treatment for both chronic pain, epilepsy, and spasmodic conditions.

Final Thoughts

Research is still limited in how much it can tell us about CBD’s interaction with the brain. Since the brain is such a complicated vessel, there’s a lot of areas to look into which scientists haven’t had the time to do. Primarily due to prohibition.

But now with more research underway, it’s safe to say we’ll begin to learn more about CBD and the brain. And with this knowledge, we’ll have the ability to develop further forms of therapy for people suffering from a multitude of illnesses.

4 Ways CBD Can Affect Digestion

Ever since CBD proved to have anti-inflammatory properties, more and more research has sought out other benefits it can have on our health¹. Currently, the groundwork of cannabidiol as a treatment for gut and digestive system complications is coming to light.

Within the past couple of decades, nutrition has become a hot topic. Part of this has to do with the concerns people have for their overall health. But it also has to do with the copious amount of research revealing the important roles nutrition plays in our mental health.

Throughout this article, you’ll learn how important your digestive system is to the rest of your body and how CBD can have a positive impact on it.

1The Importance of a Healthy Gut

Hippocrates once said, “All disease begins in the gut.” Yet, it’s only been in recent years that scientists have discovered how spot on that statement is.

The gut houses most of our microbiome – a vast ecosystem of trillions of organisms living within and on our bodies. All these little critters play a vital role in our overall health. They’re responsible for²:

  • Breaking down toxic food compounds
  • Incorporating specific vitamins and amino acids
  • The functioning of the immune system

These three aspects of our microbiome play one of the most significant roles in our overall health. So much so, they may even be linked to our thoughts and emotions.

2The Link Between Digestive and Mental Health

Did you know scientists have only recently discovered what’s being labeled as our “second brain”? It’s known as the enteric nervous system (ENS) and it plays a strong role in the following areas³:

  • Digestion
  • Health
  • Mood
  • Thought patterns

Yes! Scientists have found an area in our gut responsible for aspects of our brain. And it’s unanimously agreed that good nutrition strongly affects our ENS.

So, what does this have to do with CBD?

Well, if CBD can have a positive impact on areas of our gut (such as our microbiome and ENS), then it has the potential to treat both physical and psychological health.

3The Endocannabinoid System and Our Health

Throughout history, many cultures have used cannabis as a means of treating illnesses of the gastrointestinal tract⁴. This may be due to the fact that our endocannabinoid system plays a major role in regulating the physiology of our gastrointestinal activity in the following areas:

  • Gut-brain arbitrated fat absorption
  • Gut permeability
  • Improving motility
  • Inflammation
  • Influential interactions with gut microbiota

The endocannabinoid system is made up of two specific cell receptors known as CB1 and CB2 receptors⁵. Both of which are found throughout the gut and digestive system. When the endocannabinoid system has faults, it can cause intestinal disorders such as the following:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Obesity

Cannabinoids found in cannabis plants have the ability to bind to these receptors when taken. In turn, cannabinoids hold the ability to influence specific receptor sites where damage is occurring.

THC has been discovered to attach itself to CB1 receptors. But CBD is known to indirectly manage both CB1 and CB2 receptors⁶.

4What We Know About CBD And Digestion

Since researchers haven’t looked into CBD’s effects on every digestive problem humans face, we can only partly answer this question.

Leaky Gut

There are a number of different gut problems that come about due to gut permeability or “leaky gut”. Within our guts is a barrier of epithelial cells that form together for the sake of building a wall between the gut and the bloodstream. When food is intaken, this barrier allows nutrients to pass through while stopping dangerous pathogens and bacteria.

When this barrier is unable to withstand these dangers, we develop a leaky gut. Some studies suggest CBD might strengthen our epithelial cells in times of weakness⁷.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

When a person suffers from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), they often develop symptoms, such as:

  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach cramps

IBS can be caused by a number of different factors, including:

Changes in the microflora of the gut

  • Infection
  • Inflammation in the intestines
  • Muscle contractions in the intestine
  • Nerve irregularities in the digestive system

Similarly, there are different reasons why people contract IBS, including:

Eating certain foods

  • Heightened stress
  • Hormonal changes

For people currently suffering from IBS, it’s highly suggested you make healthy diet changes and take probiotics. Yet, you’ll probably also want to make CBD another form of treatment.

Lots of research has come out proving CBD to be a powerful adversary against IBS⁸. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD has a way of treating specific symptoms, such as pain and inflammation. Furthermore, research has found it may even slow down the progression of IBS.

3 Ways CBD Can Be Used For Anti-Aging

Due to prohibition, scientists have only recently begun to discover all the benefits hemp has to offer. Though the plant has been used for fibers and foods for thousands of years, never before had it been applied for anti-aging.

Numerous products are appearing all over the market for CBD’s versatile use. And many skin lotions and creams are also surfacing – many of which promise anti-aging effects.

But how effective is CBD? And does it outperform other anti-aging medicines on the market?

1What Current Research Says

AXIM Biotechnologies has recently invested in Medical Marijuana, Inc. and did a study that looked into how CBD can be used to treat aging as well as other skin conditions (such as eczema)³.

What they found was the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD are the main source of the cannabinoid’s skin benefits. When you prevent inflammation, you’re also treating dangerous skin conditions and decreasing puffiness.

As a result of this research, it’s understood that using CBD as an anti-aging cream can have many skin benefits beyond getting rid of wrinkles.

Furthermore, the National Institute of Health has a patent on CBD which recognizes the scientific evidence backing cannabidiol oil as an antioxidant and holding other neuroprotective properties⁴.

2CBD’s Anti-Aging Properties

Let’s be honest, many of us looking for anti-aging products are truly seeking a way to get rid of unwanted wrinkles. Though it’s only natural for our bodies to develop these features, there are a number of other different causes, including¹:

  • Excessive stress (frowning)
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Smoking
  • Sun exposure

Scientists have studied the innate process and determined wrinkles appear when the elastins in the skin begin to break down. In turn, the body also becomes less successful in:

  • Fighting inflammation
  • Repairing itself
  • Retaining moisture

All of which leads to wrinkles.

CBD is a prominent tool in boosting the body’s ability to take on some of these challenges. For example, CBD has high levels of anti-inflammatories². If working with other natural herbs found in skincare products, CBD can help retain moisture while lessening immoderate oils.

These traits of CBD give it the ability to help make the skin healthier. Healthier skin allows the skin a better ability to repair itself.

3What To Use

If you want to use CBD specifically for its anti-aging properties, your best option is to find a topical application. If you browse the web seeking this product, make sure the hemp used is from a United States source – for safety precaution.

Final Thoughts

CBD topical applications are the go-to for anti-aging properties. If you think CBD is the right route for you, give it a try and see just how much it helps you. CCBD works with your skin to heal itself, making this a natural option for anti-aging skincare.

3 Differences Between Whole Flower and Isolated CBD

People across the country are turning their attention to CBD. Each passing day, hemp is becoming a staple natural alternative to a variety of treatments from chronic pain to anxiety. Yet, many of these newcomers aren’t aware of the terms used to differentiate products.

For example, you may run across a CBD product that labels itself as whole flower, whole plant, and/or full spectrum. These products use the entirety of the hemp plant as there are many other benefits outside CBD itself. Whereas products labeled isolated CBD only utilizes the stalk of the plant – that which contains cannabidiol.

In fact, hemp offers a variety of different cannabinoids which each serve a different purpose.

1About Isolated CBD

To get a sense of the differences between whole flower and isolated CBD, it’s important to understand the chemicals in each.

When a product is labeled as isolated, it ONLY offers CBD. After hemp is cultivated, cannabidiol alone is extracted to make full use of its many benefits which include¹:

  • Alleviates anxiety
  • Alleviates pain
  • Antibacterial
  • Decreases blood sugar levels
  • Decreases chance of artery blockage
  • Decreases function in the immune system
  • Decreases inflammation
  • Decreases seizures and convulsions
  • Decreases small intestine contraction
  • Decreases vomiting and nausea
  • Impedes cancer growth
  • Neuro-protective
  • Promotes bone growth
  • Slows bacterial growth
  • Tranquilizing
  • Treats psoriasis
  • Vasorelaxant

2About Whole Flower CBD

Whole flower CBD works in a similar method. After hemp’s cultivation, cannabidiol is extracted. However, the biggest difference is other cannabinoids are also extracted. These include (but aren’t limited to)²:

Cannabichromene (CBC)

  • Alleviates pain
  • Decreases inflammation
  • Impedes cancer cell growth
  • Promotes bone growth

Cannabigerol (CBG)

  • Aids sleep
  • Impedes cancer cell growth
  • Promotes bone growth
  • Slows bacterial growth

Cannabinol (CBN)

  • Decreases inflammation
  • Promotes bone tissue growth
  • Sedative

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)

  • Decreases seizures and convulsions
  • Promotes bone growth

3Choosing The One For You

For some time, it was believed that CBD in it’s isolated form was more effective. Understandably, people felt that if the CBD was pure, it would be much more potent. Yet, a study from the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem³ confirmed this to be inaccurate.

Within the study, researchers dispensed full spectrum CBD and isolated CBD onto two different sets of mice. The mice that received the full spectrum CBD were found to have much higher levels of relief.

More so, those same mice benefited further as doses of full spectrum CBD were increased. Whereas, the mice who received isolated CBD didn’t benefit further in any way.

Still, that isn’t to say there’s no reason not to use isolated CBD. In fact, there are specific situations where you’d rather use isolated CBD rather than whole flower. For example, certain diseases can be negatively affected by certain cannabinoids whole flower CBD offers. While those same diseases can benefit from CBD alone.

Final Thoughts

Whole flower and isolated CBD both have benefits. The choice is always yours. You can visit our products page to see our CBD options, and if you wish to learn more about whole flower CBD vs. isolated CBD or our products, we invite you to contact us for further information.

4 Ways To Consume CBD

As CBD rises in popularity, more and more people seek to give it a try. Yet, with such a versatile amount of products currently on the market, newcomers may feel a bit intimidated.

Even more so, there isn’t much information out there about the best ways to consume CBD. Do you eat an edible or smoke some hemp flower? Do you take a drop of CBD oil or apply it through topical lotion?

The truth is, this variety is made to offer you a preference when it comes to consumption. We all seek out CBD for different reasons. Similarly, we all are going to have our preferred way of taking it.

This article illustrates the most common ways CBD can be consumed.

1Edible

Whether it be a pill or a gummy bear, there’s an ever growing supply of different edibles containing CBD products. Most have a dose of around 5 mg to 20 mg, but you may find some with upwards of 100 mg.

By taking CBD orally, you’re mainly impacting the length of its effects. When cannabidiol enters through the digestive system, it takes longer to break down and, therefore, has a longer lasting effect. In respect to this, it may take a while for the CBD effects to kick in after consumption.

Edibles are without a doubt the healthiest method and hold the most versatile amount of products currently on the market.

2Tincture

If you want to have full control over the dosage of CBD you intake, you’re going to want to look for a tincture. These are alcohol, oil, or vegetable-glycerine based cannabidiol extracts. They usually come in a small bottle with an eye-dropper.

Besides being able to properly control the dosage amount, one of the biggest benefits to tinctures is their discreetness.

The bottle is small enough to fit snuggly in a pocket and produces very minor odor. If you’re trying to hide you CBD use from those around you, a quick bathroom trip is all you’ll need.

Of course, it’s in your best interest to educate people rather than hide this natural medication. However, we understand public perception is still highly affected by prohibition and many out there are looking for cannabidiol for self-medication purposes (such as treating anxiety or depression).

For these reasons, we bring up the tinctures discreetness.

3Topical

If you’re suffering from pain or inflammation in a specific area of your body, a topical is the best option for help. Due to the cannabinoid receptors found in the skin, you’re given the ability to target where you want the CBD to go through a topical application. Furthermore, they only take about a half-hour to kick in.

There are a few different types of topicals, including:

  • Gels
  • Lotions
  • Oils

Topical CBD is most recommended for those struggling with arthritis and chronic pain.

4Vaping or Smoking

If you want to feel the effects of cannabidiol immediately upon consumption, inhaling it is the fastest method. When you inhale CBD, it almost instantly gets into your bloodstream through your lungs, causing direct effects. The only downside to this is the effects won’t last as long as other consumption methods.

You can inhale CBD through the following methods:

  • CBD concentrates
  • CBD vape juice
  • Dried CBD flower

It should be noted, this isn’t the safest way to consume CBD. If you decide to smoke it, there are some risks to take into consideration. And since scientists aren’t entirely sure of the long term effects of vaping, there may be potential hazards we aren’t aware of yet.

Choose What’s Right for You
